Wow what a challenge! So day 7 was to do a load of laundry from start to finish; wash, dry, fold, put away. Woke up this morning and had absolutely no problem having the laundry washed before school runs, dried before lunch, but boy did I ever drag feet on walking in there to fold/put away. It's now 9:40pm and I can say it's finally done! Still I don't understand what the big deal is. Took all of 5m to put it up. Either way it's done and I know for at least me, this challenge will be seen again and again throughout the year. So who's the winner in the title? Well, did you get a load completed from begining to end? If you answered yes, then the winner is YOU! If you answered no... Hurry and run off to put them away now, or try it again tomorrow.
So what do we have to look forward to tomorrow? Day 8's challenge is an adventure... dive into that couch. We are looking for anything that is NOT stuffing, because it's not supposed to be there. Let's get it out and in the trash. Why stop there! Tip that sucker and get all those puppy toys, hidden veggies from picky kids, and lost socks. Oh, thinking we should had done this Before the sock challenge. Hind sight is 20/20 even when cleaning. Have fun and log into our Soaring Above It All facebook fan page and tell us how you did! We'd love to cheer you on!

Spirit Meter Filled
Happy 1st Sunday of the New Year! We've almost made it a full week into this year. It's going by so quickly already! Had a grand ole time at church today!
Today's 365 Days to Soar goal was to Donate 2 items and to Toss 6. Hope you all are doing well with these challenges. I got on a roll today when putting away the laundry and we ended up donating 18 shirts from the 2 boy's dressers/closets! Then finding 6 items to toss was quite easy as there is always plenty of paper to sort through and dispose of.
Monday's Challenge (Day 7) is to do one load of laundry from start to finish. This means wash, dry, fold/hang, and put away. Think you can do it? Sure you can!

Day 5
Well isn't this delightful. My digital camera has dead batteries, so no pictures until I can beg the husband for a battery budget increase. Okay, money isn't that tight but after forking over $40 on medicines yesterday alone, I'll at least wait until next week to ask. Now if I could get my 4 yr old to stop taking 80 pictures of her foot in a three day span...
So onto today! I was behind a day to start out so for the 4th (going through a drawer). My oldest son and I ended up tossing over seven pair of jeans that no longer fit! Wow! But for today's challenge tackle the matchless socks. I am happy to say that this house only had three and after I finished the day's load, they were paired back up!
Now for tomorrow the challenge is to find 2 items to donate and 6 items to toss. Shouldn't be too hard. I'm sure there are 6 pieces of paper around here I could toss and I know my younger son has a full drawer of shirts I can rummage through.
Happy Flinging!

Day Oh, Day Oh...
Come, Mr. Hoover Man, hoover me carpets
(Night time come and me wan' go ta bed)
Come, Mr. Clean Man, scrub me bathroom
(Night time come and me wan' go ta bed)
A rowdy bunch o' screaming kids
(Night time come and me wan' go ta bed)
Hide the sickly dear husband
(Night time come and me wan' go ta bed)
There really is no rest for mothers who play nurse all day. Regrettably, I have no grand pictures of today's challenge which was to declutter in one dresser drawer. Instead I spent the day scrubbing and rescrubbing bathrooms, washing load after load of laundry, and trying to maintain normal routines while attending sick & infected patients.
But not all is forsaken! There is tomorrow, which the 365 Challenge is to pair up the socks and discard of the lonely ones. Great! I can spend what, 5 minutes tops in front of the dresser and knock both today & tomorrow's challenges out of the park. So tomorrow look forward to multiple pictures to flip through. Promise I won't show undies. (gasp!)
Until then, since I'm feeling oh so fruity, it's time to Put the Lime in the Coconut and drink 'em both up! Put the Lime in the Coconut....

Now where did I put that!
Day 3 of the 365 Days to Soar Challenge: Go through a pile of papers.
Easy enough, I assume every house with living occupants has some sort of paper flowing through it. School papers, junk mail, bills, receipts, you name it. Without being a bossy Betty, it's time to attack one of those piles. The pile of receipts in your purse/bill fold, or the bills on the desk, you're choice. For me it's a combination of family important documents mixed in with school papers, a bunch of trash, and some items just missing their homes. You decide what room/bag this pile is in.
After 25 minutes of work (I had dear hubby on the phone during the whole cleaning, so this was a SLOW one handed job) I have gone through the small pile of papers; putting the ones to keep into their rightful spot in the Home Management Binder, put the wicker sewing basket back in its spot under the table, then dealt with the little things like hair ties and rewards cards, basically everything that was once on my desk in the past week and a half that the kids have pushed over to the table so they could take my laptop hostage for Plants vs. Zombies.
Had I been able to hang up the phone I would had conquered this small stack in much less time but it's done, I'm satisfied, the clutter is gone... for now. Need proof? Don't worry, I have some here.
See, that's how it's supposed to be. Well, minus the dust! Hey, I was just going for the clutter. So shake off that profectionist feeling because it will just hold you back. How it looks now is plenty fine for me until Monday when dusting is done.
For tomorrow (day 4) the challenge is to pick one, 1 dresser drawer to sort through. We are looking for clothes that no longer fit, no longer represent who we are, or has been loved too much and is full of holes. We will get rid of those items to make room for the items we do love... without holes. Again, free reign on which drawer to chose, although I do suggest to start with the drawer that is hardest to close.

Caution: Opening door may result with trama to the head!
Have you ever wondered why you are so scatter-brained? I certainly have. I used to think it was due in part to having to think for not only myself but for my husband and three kids as well. We all know if you can't find it the exact moment you think of looking for something, immediately ask mom, she knows where it is! I think after 12 years of this, we've whittled our way down to sharing one brain cell. Then when coming up with tasks for the 365 day challenge, my theory might be replaced with the fact that I am usually the one opening cabinets for meal dishes, and I'm the one putting them away after their washing, but who is it that keeps messing the cabinet all up?... like before, the husband and kids! One day I will get one of them to speak truthfully and admit that they're goals in life are to make me mentally insane.
So cutting into my rambling, Day 2 is to straighten up the cabinet that contains the dishes.
Now, I will say that before starting this, I fell ill and had about a day and a half worth of dishes to wash, so it doesn't look that horrible, or at least not as bad as usual. Let me explain what we have behind these three doors.
Door one (far left) we have the white basket filled with medications, band-aids, and thermometers of such. Why in the kitchen? Well, we started out putting them in the medicine cabinet like normal people but we have two bathrooms. So instead of buy double everything we would just put it in the master bathroom. Then someone gets hurt outside and comes in, the quickest bathroom is in the hall, but everything was in the bigger cabinet in the bigger bathroom. So we move it, then there isn't enough room for patient & nurse. Plus the kitchen is in the center of the house, same distance as the little bathroom but with more space than the bigger bathroom that's further away. Confused yet? Yeah, me too. So we have a medicine basket in the kitchen.
Door two (middle) we have the split rack to store plastic bowls underneath, ceramic bowls on top (I only have two left, thanks kids, which is why we have the plastic bowls). Cereal above both cabinets one and two. I also made the mistake of buying the jumbo boxes, can't close the doors completely!
Door three (right) we have room for extra cups on top and the bottom we have plastic plates standing up with dinner plates under the divide and saucers above.
I have things organized out but as you can see with the plastic cup/ orange lids, my mother-in-law takes the kids out for lunch on Sunday's and sometimes they come back with these cups. That is my downfall! Three new cups each week, a girl could start her own cup thrift shop!
With a few dishes washed, the cabinets emptied and wiped out, here is the after shot. Now mind you, not all the dishes were done at that time, still. I wanted to do this with the least amount of dishes to pull out/put back in.
A few new items can be seen but the most work was done in that medicine basket and taking out the bags for the over sized cereal boxes. All in all I tossed 22 cups! Should had taken a picture of that but hind-sight is 20/20. But the plus side is I could close all the doors completely after clearing out the cabinets.
It's been a complete year since I've taken on this 'Less is More' mind-set and it's true, so true. Less things to clean and pick up, less things to find room for has given me not only much MORE time for things I love and MORE space to do them in!
So if you haven't jumped in on the challenge, I highly urge you to. What do you have to lose? A few items here and there? Yes, but you gain so much more in the end!

Belated January 1st
Yay! Happy New Year! Hope your holiday's ended with a bang! Mine sure did when the neighbors decided to set off fireworks. Thankfully the kids had stayed up late enough that they slept through it.
It's now officially the 2nd, and not for much longer, but before we get to the 2nd let's talk about what we did on the 1st.
January 1- Pack away the Holidays!
This year, I took a little more time in packing away the tree. Most of the time I just toss what I used back into the three totes and haul them back to the shed. This year, I took out what I didn't use and thought about the reasons I didn't use them.
Now to get the corner back to normal. With the power of... THE BLOG, we have...
Wallah! The rocking chair is no longer located right in front of the book case. This also means I have to stop blaming this, extremely light, rocking chair for being in the way of me straightening up the book shelf. I know, lame excuse but a recovering disorganized creature will still reach for the most off the wall excuses.
So there you have it my friends, Day 1 of the 365 days to SOARing Challenge. Stay tuned... I should have Day 2 ready for viewing pleasure within the hour.

- The item was broken.
- The item no longer went with my theme. *Yes, I've been certified as a cracked nut. 10 yrs ago I was obsessed with silver, blue, and snowmen. Now I've noticed I've been leaning closer and closer to red. So why do I continue to lug all this blue & silver back and forth each year!?!?!
