Belated January 1st

Yay! Happy New Year! Hope your holiday's ended with a bang! Mine sure did when the neighbors decided to set off fireworks. Thankfully the kids had stayed up late enough that they slept through it.

It's now officially the 2nd, and not for much longer, but before we get to the 2nd let's talk about what we did on the 1st.

January 1- Pack away the Holidays!

This year, I took a little more time in packing away the tree. Most of the time I just toss what I used back into the three totes and haul them back to the shed. This year, I took out what I didn't use and thought about the reasons I didn't use them.
  • The item was broken.
  • The item no longer went with my theme. *Yes, I've been certified as a cracked nut. 10 yrs ago I was obsessed with silver, blue, and snowmen. Now I've noticed I've been leaning closer and closer to red. So why do I continue to lug all this blue & silver back and forth each year!?!?!
In doing the great Christmas purge, I was able to let go of HALF of what was stored in the totes. But why stop there?... when taking them outside I thought, if I can let go of that much Christmas stuff, what about the previous holiday's items. Pop open the fall tote and I was able to let go of most of it as well. Now I have two totes. One that holds the tree & it's trimmings, the other holds the remaining decorations and the fall decorations! Yay for emptying out two whole totes! I'm sure the AMVets are going to love me this future pick up.

Now to get the corner back to normal. With the power of... THE BLOG, we have...

Wallah! The rocking chair is no longer located right in front of the book case. This also means I have to stop blaming this, extremely light, rocking chair for being in the way of me straightening up the book shelf. I know, lame excuse but a recovering disorganized creature will still reach for the most off the wall excuses.

So there you have it my friends, Day 1 of the 365 days to SOARing Challenge. Stay tuned... I should have Day 2 ready for viewing pleasure within the hour.
