Year in Review... New Year Goals

Beginning of 2012 I decided to finally conquer the Flylady program to declutter my home. The problem with Flylady's system is that there is SO MUCH to take in it's overwhelming. Even starting with the babysteps you have this feeling of being behind. When you first start out you have the 31 babysteps, along with the Basic Weekly Plan, the Monthly Habits, the Zone work, the daily missions Kelly sends out, you literally drown in the confusion because it's not available in stages.

I'm an impatient person, I'm American for heaven sakes. We're not known for our patience, at least not anymore, or at least not in my area. Even stating that I was only going to focus on the Monthly Habits, I found myself doing them along side the 31 Babysteps. I enjoy the weekly plan but loathe the division of the house in zones. Maybe if I was only living with DH and a dog or two, the zone layout would work, but I'm a mother of three active children with a DH whose work schedule changes faster than the toilet paper roll. By the time the zone I worked so hard in last month rolled around again, all that work had been undone by the little minions running around living their life.

Now I'm not saying it's a bad program, because I still do a lot of what she has laid out, what I am saying is, the whole thing I love about the Soaring Above It All facebook group that Renee and I started, you literally jump right in! We have an easy to comprehend Chore Wars site that has darn near every task you'd do throughout the week to give you an option on what to do next, plus you earn experience points and how fun is it to have a friendly competition with others! There is almost always a thread going where the caller (the person who says Go!) is running 15 minute tasks, or 30 or 45. And it's left up to the player what they want to conquer during that time. Every once in awhile you'll find a bingo game or a photo challenge, tons of motivation to get you to be the Domestic Goddess Queen you set out to be!

So for 2013, I have a new goal. Now that I've found my niche, it's time to perfect it. My house is no longer a storage shed for the family's belongings, it's a place we now love and what to spend more time in instead of trying to find a way to get out of it. It's now time to save up money and improve it. This is more of a challenge than before because decluttering is free, fixing up takes money but I'll be looking at creative ways to save.

The other goal I have for 2013 to keep the clutter away is to do a daily task. Something similar to the daily missions that Flylady has but if you pay close to those, they are the same recycled tasks each month and some things go for ages before being touched again if you only followed those. So I made up my own and will share them with the group if anyone would like to work along side me on this goal.

Then finally for 2013, my goal is to get my health in order. I've packed on a pretty pound this past year. Getting it off with a busted up back and tailbone has proven to be quite the challenge in 2012 so I'm assisting some outside help. Again, another goal costing me money I really don't have but this goal I have no other choice, it's one that takes high precedence.

So there is my 2012 in a nutshell and my hopes for 2013. New Years is a few days away... what are your goals for the new year?
